Soooo ... a tight end recruit gets asked and says Bobby Bentley told him
the Gamecocks took a commitment at the position. What do you read into
that?

Could it "possibly" be Reggie Grimes ? Hmmmm

He is a LB. Correct me if I am wrong but aren't we recruiting him as a TE?

Hey, we need something to talk about. :dancincocky:

It was a series of tweets by Kornblut.  Below is a link to the article he posted today on his site.  The implication is it could be Grimes, Shaw, or Lamonica.  You don't have to be a subscriber to read the article...

Article

Monday night a tight end prospect looking at USC said he was informed by
USC tight ends coach Bobby Bentley that the Gamecocks had offered
another tight end and that player had committed. A second source also
said USC picked up a tight end commitment. As of Monday night, there
had been no Spurs Up twitter commitment alert from Will Muschamp.
Reggie Grimes, a DE/TE made his official visit to USC last weekend but
is not expected to make a decision until later in the year. This
weekend TE Eric Shaw is scheduled for an official visit to USC.
Another tight end, Diego Lamonica, had planned an official visit to USC
For this weekend but is planning to go to Vanderbilt instead.

Yeah, we won't know until we know, but my read of it was that it was Lamonica who spoke with Kornblut - possibly Kornblut trying to get some statements from Lamonica, who had a planned official visit to USC this coming weekend for a while. So kornblut is told by Lamonica that he's not OV-ing USC now, but rather is OV-ing Vanderbilt instead. So Kornblut asks why, and is told the above. Meanwhile, another TE prospect, Shaw, is also OV-ing USC this weekend, but he's still going ahead with it.

So, my suspicion is that Shaw is the TE who is a silent. But this isn't engraved in stone - could be that Shaw wasn't wanting to commit to USC, and that he was told the same thing that Lamonica was told, but doesn't care, and still wants to OV to USC, so he's going ahead with it. Who knows, as this is all pulled out of my posterior region. But the weekend is now upon us, so lets see what happens, if anything....
