Deajaun McDougle, who took an official visit with the South Carolina Gamecocks in June, will announce his college commitment later this month.
South Carolina, Florida, Maryland and Ohio State are listed as the finalists. A decision will be announced on July 30 at 6 p.m.
The official visit to South Carolina was his third trip to Columbia.
"Everything, really -- the coaching staff -- it felt like home,"
McDougle said. "The activities we did, I got to know everyone, got to
speak to everyone. The community -- everything really stood out to me
(the official visit) weekend."
McDougle's first trip to South Carolina was in the summer before his
junior year at Deerfield Beach (Fla.) High School. In the fall, he
caught 61 passes for 853 yards and eight touchdowns. The Gamecocks
hosted him again for a junior day event earlier this year.
McDougle's former teammate, Rosendo Louis, is a sophomore linebacker at South Carolina.
"Once you get here, you've got to put in the work, obviously. It's a
chill place. There's not much to do, but that's good. That can be good
for some people," McDougle said of Louis' message.
"You've got to be on your A-game once you get here. You've got to come in and work for what you want."
McDougle, who ran 4.51 in the 40-yard dash earlier this year, will
have an opportunity to squeeze in another official visit when the dead
period ends on July 25. Stay tuned to TheBigSpur for more coverage on
