Trout added his 23rd home run of the season in the sixth inning to tie the score at 2-2.
It was the fourth time in Trout's six-year career that he has homered on his birthday,
also going deep in 2012, '13 and '15.  The superstar center fielder became the 10th
American League player to reach the plateau before his age-26 season. He is only
the fourth player in Major League history to record 1,000hits, 500 runs and 500 walks in
his age-25 season or younger, joining Hall of Famers Mel Ott, Jimmie Fox, and Mickey Mantle.

Trout's 26th birthday was August 7, 2017.

OK, It's time to give everyone an update......

Mike Trout fininshed 4th in last year's MVP voting, primarily because he missed 45 games due to injury, thus not having enough qualifying ABs for league honors..

As of this writing, the Angels are 16-8, leading the Houston Astros by 1/2 game in the American League West.  They started out 13-3, the best I've ever seen them start.  Obviously, they went 3-5 over the last week.

Trout leads Major League Baseball with 10 HRs.

Albert Pujols  is 7 hits shy of 3,000, and is #7 in all-time HRs with 618.

Newly acquired free agent phenom from Japan Shohei Ohtani is surprising everyone with his two-way excellence as both a starting pitcher and DH.

Andrelton Simmons is proving that he is a VERY SPECIAL shortstop.

WATCHING TROUT EXCEL IS A KID'S DREAM COME TRUE.......(right, Mickey?)

You guys need to see this.

Mike Trout went 5 for 5 yesterday (Saturday) at Yankee Stadium, including 3 doubles, his league-leading 17th HR, and beat out an infield hit to deep SS.

Recap of game...

baseball-reference.com

Nearing 1/3 of the season done, and he already has 4.9 WAR.

On May 20, I watched his game on TV.  He had 3 BB, 2 SB, 2 R, and 1 SO in 4 PA.

Whoaaaa!  This is fun!

Trout's Greatness Could Be Beyond Explanation

"If you artificially created a baseball player in a lab with the DNA
of Mickey Mantle, Bo Jackson and Barry Bonds, you'd end up with Mike
Trout."

"If Mozart was a baseball player, he'd be Mike Trout."

OT:  The Angels took Jordyn Adams, the son of former Gamecock coach Deke Adams, as their #1 pick in the recent MLB Draft.  Jordyn's slot money is about $3.5 million.  I suspect Deke said, "Screw UNC".

Trout Is Carrying A Team Like Few Others In History!

There are only so many ways we can describe what we're witnessing,
really. This is one of the best-ever players having his best-ever
season.

Last night on MLB Network they said that at this stage of his career, only Ty Cobb and Mickey Mantle have higher WAR ratings than Trout.

Ty Cobb

Mickey Mantle

Mike Trout

Mike Trout turns 27 on August 7, 2018.  This is, statistically, his age 26 season.

I hope many of you are in awe of watching HISTORY, as I am.

Add the WAR numbers, up to and including the age 26 season, for Cobb and Mantle.  The difference is minuscule.  The Angels have presently played 83 games (2 games over 1/2 of season).  We can only speculate, at this time, what his WAR will be for the entire year.

Mike Trout's 30th home run of the season was hit so high it hit off the catwalk at Tropicana Field

Link

The Angels' offense managed to chip away at the deficit and pulled within four after Mike Trout launched his 30th home run of the season off the C-ring catwalk in the seventh inning. Trout joins Willie Mays as the only players to hit 30 home runs and steal 20 bases in three seasons before their age-26 campaigns.

Trout is even BETTER in 2018......

Already recognized as the best player in the game, he has gotten even
better in 2018, with career highs in OPS, OBP and OPS+. Trout's 20
intentional walks are the most in baseball.

As expected, Trout finishes second in 2018 AL MVP voting.

Center fielder falls short of winning award for third time in career.....Despite having his BEST overall season, he finished SECOND for the fourth time in his 7-year career, a record he shares with Ted Williams, Stan Musial, and teammate Albert Pujols.

SWEET!
